Before beginning on our journey with us, here is a little bit of our history!

South Carolina

Born a twin, I grew up in a loving family with five brothers and one sister. Much of my childhood was spent in sunny California but not without many a visit to my 'southern heritage' in the Carolina's. My roots in South Carolina are where I inherited my love for the boundless old oak trees with their sweeping beards of Spanish moss, gallant old antebellum mansions, crabbing, clamming, fresh chicory coffee brewed with inlet water, fierce thunderstorms, fire flies, hush puppies, fried okra and story telling into the wee hours of the morning. Raised in a Christian family, I gave my life to Jesus when I was 13 years old. My best friend Kim, (12 at the time) invited me to a tent meeting at Chuck Smith's church in California. After the sermon, standing at the altar, I asked Jesus into my heart as my savior and Lord and as we all know, life took on a whole new meaning! From the age of 13 to present time, my walk with the Lord has been one of a childlike faith.  I have always taken the Lord at His word and have believed and acted upon everything He has spoken, both in His written word as well as His personal words uttered to my heart. My passions? Jesus, My husband Kit, our Briard Graham, dear friends and family, our home, cooking, writing, creating, decorating, entertaining, reading, needlework, movie marathons, snow days and road trips!

My inspiration and better half Kit, was born in the Grand Canyon state of Arizona. He grew up in a close knit family with 4 sisters and 2 brothers. (Both of us were the second to the youngest child in our families of 7.) As a child Kit excelled in music and singing with an enlivening  trip to Europe along side his school choir, being one of his all time life long highlights. He was also active in many school activities including the student body counsel. Kit grew up on a farm graced with all kinds of farm animals and learned at an early age what responsibility really was. His father was a rancher, cowboy, storyteller, chef, fisherman and hunter. The two of them enjoyed many an outing together, whether the 'big hunt' for deer, fishing, duck or dove hunting. Very proud of his southwestern heritage, Kit inherited a love for Mexican food, cozy family gatherings around a rustic Pit B-B-Q, the diversity of the desert landscape, (high and low), mountain ranges, red rock and gorgeous canyons. Kit came to Jesus right after we met in 1988. Talk about growing in the Lord QUICKLY? He grew in the Lord faster than anyone I had ever known with a love and desire for the Lord that blew me away. Kit's passions? Jesus, our marriage, singing, playing the guitar, weight lifting, reading, fishing, clamming, hiking, hunting, web design, family and friends, and our 7 year old Briard Graham.

Sedona AZ, fabulous place to live, hike ...

In going back to my "Before Kit days", it was in the early 80's, I was young, single and my hearts desire consisted of three major things.  A husband, a child and a home, (the white picket fence was optional. ) I asked the Lord one night if He had someone in mind for for me to marry. As He shared His heart with me, my heart was filled with such joy and excitement. He did indeed have a husband for me, someone He had handpicked. He then said to me that He would bring him to me, but that there would be 'a time of waiting.' He concluded with this passage from Ephesians, sharing His vision for our marriage, (which by the way, fits Kit's and my life together to a "T" over these last 19 years.)

"And raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus that in the ages to come, He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."

The Lord brought Kit and I together in the fall of 1988, (8 years after he said He had someone special for me and that there would be a time of waiting.) Now to be honest with you, IF God had told me then, that the time of waiting was going to be a whopping 8 years, I may have replied that evening ; "Lord, can we go with door #2?" It was a long wait but I must say, VERY WELL WORTH IT! We married in January of 1990. In these last 19 years, the Lord has created a magnificent kaleidescope of our 2 lives, fashioning an exquisite tapestry of our two hearts, as He has made us ONE in Jesus. Our 'Susan and Kit' journey began in 1988, preparing us to accept the unique call of The Kings Tavern in the year of 1997, the year in which my writings for  this website begin.

Since saying our " I do's", Kit and I have lived in 7 different states, ( our home address shifting like the wind as we have journeyed to each place the Lord has called us to, with our family adage being "Lets pack...lets unpack." In our early years of marriage up until the year 2001 we resided on the west coast and for the last 8 years, the Lord has called us to the dazzling east coast along the eastern shore. At present, we reside in our countries first state, Delaware. We adore it's quaint historic cities and towns, entrancing beach resort cities, notable lighthouses amidst the serene charming waterways, boundless farm land, captivating wildlife, incomparable proximity to Washington DC, Maryland and PA., delicious fresh seafood, wonderful friendly people as well as our amazing and awe inspiring Christian group of friends in Delaware that have become our family and support!
